Instead of cappuccino or a milky latte we now prefer to have an americano coffee with cream. As well as tasting decadent, rich and downright delicious it will fill you up for longer and you can feel good knowing that contains less carbs. Breakfast often doesn’t happen in our house but if we want to keep going until lunch, we might have a small handful of nuts or dark chocolate with a coffee.

Ingredients - Serves 1

1 black americano (150ml – 2/3 cup)

2 teaspoons double cream

Optional extras:

25g (1oz) nuts such as pecans and walnuts

2 squares (20g) of dark chocolate over 85% cocoa solids

Here are some carb counts for you to make your own choices:

Per medium size coffee and cream: net carbs 0.5g, fibre 0g, protein 0.1g, fat 4.3g, 42kcal

Per medium size cappuccino made with 75ml whole milk: net carbs 3.9g, fibre 0g, protein 2.3g, fat 2.4g, 47kcal

Per 25g serving of pecans: net carbs 1.1g, fibre 2.4g, protein 2.3g, fat 18g, 172kcal

Per serving of 2 squares (20g) of Lindt 85% dark chocolate: net carbs 0.8g, fibre 3g, protein 2.5g, fat 9.2g, 116kcal
