Two squares of 85% dark chocolate
March 2021
Rather than consume a whole bar of chocolate limit yourself to one or two squares of dark chocolate over 70% cocoa solids. Some people find it a good idea to break the bar up into squares and freeze them in portion of one or two squares. Out of sight and out of mind. Or better still if you have a weakness for chocolate just don’t have it in the house.
However if you do eat a couple of squares do this mindfully ie. know what you are eating and how many carbs and calories this little snack contains. Never mindlessly snack, always drink a glass of water first as it may be that you are thirsty rather than hungry.
Usually the higher the percentage of cocoa solids, the less sugar it contains but do check the packets. Alternatively go for a chocolate sweetened with artificial sugar and again read the label with care. To give you an idea I have calculated 2 squares (24g) of 85% and 90% Lindt dark chocolate.
Ingredients - Serves 1
24g 85% or 90% dark chocolate
Snack with caution: Our nutrititonist Jenny Phillips would always say don’t snack between meals.
